Ashes of Knowledge

This piece reimagines Alexandria University as both ancient and modern; its classical facade rooted in the past, its present form consumed by flames, and the city’s skyline stretching endlessly behind it. By placing the burning structure against the seashore, the work mirrors Alexandria’s history as a beacon of learning, now endangered by neglect, corruption, and systemic decay.

The fire is not only destruction but also a metaphorical cleansing; an urgent call to rebuild institutions of knowledge with integrity and vision. Through this image, I ask: what happens when education, once a lighthouse for society, collapses into ruins? And how might we reimagine it to serve as a true foundation for social change?
